Always prepared

This high performance DockingStation can be used with both current Windows® and macOS® operating systems. Thus, the IB-DK2244AC is the perfect companion for eager travellers, business and multimedia enthusiasts who want to be prepared for all environments.

One connection

Notebooks and other mobile devices are getting thinner and smaller. This is usually at the expense of connectivity options – even the widespread RJ45 LAN port or extra USB inputs are often drastically reduced as are connections for video transmission, that many display devices require. The IB-DK2244AC offers a wide variety of interfaces and makes this an issue of the past.

High resolution

The IB-DK2244AC is equipped with five display video outputs. With triple Ultra HD displays simultaneously, the DockingStation allows you to split up the content to three display devices when the system supports the function, to mirror your primary screen or extend the computers desktop allowing visibility of more applications at the same time. It supports a resolution of up to 4096x2160@60 Hz for two monitors or one single 5K@60Hz display with two cables connected via DisplayPort™ and fulfils your high resolution desires.

up-downFrequently Asked Questions

Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding our products.

This DockingStation uses DisplayLink and the USB alternate mode (ALt Mode)!

What is DisplayLink?

With DisplayLink, you can quickly and easily connect several monitors to your PC via a simple USB connection. The DisplayLink driver software for DockingStation communication is installed on your computer.

What is Alternate Mode?

A part of USB Type-C™ is Alternate Mode (Alt Mode). It ensures that several functions can be covered via a USB Type-C™ interface, and thus via a single cable. E.g. DisplayPort™ and HDMI®. For example, a DockingStation can be supplied with signals for audio, video as well as data at the same time. It is very important that both devices (the DockingStation and the notebook or PC) support Alternate Mode (Alt Mode)!

What is Power Delivery?

USB can be used to power simple devices such as a mouse and a keyboard. Depending on the USB standard, the power ranges from 2.5 (USB 2.0), 4.5 (USB 3.0) to 7.5 (passive) watts or 15 watts (active) with USB Type-C™ connectors. However, this is usually not enough to supply large USB devices with sufficient power. In order to solve the problems that occur while charging, USB Power Delivery (USB PD) has published a specification for power supply over USB. Devices can be supplied with up to 100 watts of power via the USB Type-C™ interface. For example, to charge your notebook.

What I have to know before buying?

- Compatibility with host computers?

• The ICY BOX IB-DK2244AC DockingStation requires a USB Type-C™ port with DisplayPort™ alternate mode support as well as the installation of the DisplayLink driver software to be able to use the full range of functions. Refer to the notebook manual for information on the USB Type-C™ port. This USB Type-C™ feature is described as Alternate Mode, Alt Mode, DP Support, DisplayPort Support or Display Support. The current DisplayLink driver can be downloaded from the following link: Make sure that it is always up to date.

• The DockingStation can also be used without USB-Type-C™ with alternative mode support. However, this excludes the use of the third HDMI® port, which is only available with alternate mode.

- How many monitors can be connected to the DockingStation?

-Up to 3 monitors can be connected to the DockingStation. Monitor 1 and 2 via HDMI® or DisplayPort™ (DisplayLink), Monitor 3 via HDMI® (Alt Mode).

- Can the notebook be charged via the DockingStation?

-Yes, if the notebook supports USB Type-C™ Power Delivery, your notebook can be charged up to 65 watts. It is possible to use the DockingStation without Power Delivery support. Check the notebook manual for information about the USB Type-C™. Note that your notebook cannot be loaded via the DockingStation without USB Type-C™ Power Delivery.

- Which operating systems are supported?

-The use of this DockingStation is basically possible with Windows® and MacOS®. DisplayLink also provides drivers for other operating systems such as Android, ChromeOS and Ubuntu. We recommend the use with Windows® or MacOS®!

Setting up the DockingStation

How hard is the setup?

Simply install the DisplayLink driver software and connect the DockingStation to your notebook or PC. The DisplayLink driver automatically configures the monitor for optimal display quality and saves these settings for future use.

- How can I continue working with my closed notebook?

Windows® provides special settings that control how the notebook behaves when the lid closes.

• You can make these settings in the power options.

• Select SettingsSystem - Power & sleep.

• Select "Additional power settings".

• Go to “Choose what closing the lid does".

• Select "Do nothing”.

-To keep the Mac® from shutting down when it's closed, the following actions are necessary:

• The MacBook® must be connected to the power supply.

• A mouse and keyboard must be connected.

• A monitor must be connected. In this case, the MacBook® can also be used when closed.

- Can I set the Docking Station's refresh rate?

-No, this is not possible, the DockingStation supports a maximum of 30 Hz or 60 Hz.

- The included USB cable is too short, can I use a third-party cable?

-Yes, this is basically possible. However, it is not recommended! If you decide to use a third-party cable, make sure the cable meets the required specifications. the cable must support power delivery and alternate mode. Be sure to use active cables if you want to use cable lengths of more than 1 meter.

- Does the DockingStation prevent the use of video connections on the notebook directly?

-No, using the DockingStation does not limit the functionality of your notebook in any way.

- Does the DockingStation support audio output via HDMI® or DisplayPort™?

-Yes, this is supported if your monitor has built-in speakers. To do this, you will need to change the default audio output in your system accordingly.

- Everything is connected, but it still does not function?

• Install all current USB drivers on your system.

• Install the current DisplayLink driver on your system. (We recommend that you always obtain the drivers directly from the manufacturer.)

• After installing the latest drivers, restart your system.

-Check the connected components individually in a different environment, to confirm functionality. Check the following components thoroughly: The cables used, the monitor(s), your notebook and the USB Type-C™ port used as well as the DockingStation itself.

- Why is my notebook not charging even though the DockingStation is connected?

-Your notebook does not support Power Delivery or has special charging requirements. Please contact your notebook manufacturer to find out which standard is supported.

- The displayed image from the DockingStation is jittering and/or flickering.

-This may occur if the framerate is set incorrectly. Check your system’s settings. For example, if 59 Hz is set, change it to 60 Hz. The same applies to 29 Hz, to be set here to 30 Hz.

-If the problem persists, try using a high-quality cable.

- The monitor does not turn on again after the notebook wakes from sleep mode.

• On your monitor, change the input signal setting from AUTO to the specific source you are using (e.g., HDMI® or DisplayPort™). If the automatic search for an active connection does not find a video signal after a long time, the monitor goes into sleep mode and may stop responding to any signal from the DockingStation.

• Windows® may have automatically turned off the USB root hub to save power. To prevent this from happening, follow these simple steps to change the USB root hub settings in order to stay active during sleep mode.

Windows 8/8.1 and 10

• Go to the Windows® settings and select "System" - "Power & sleep". Then select "Additional power settings".

• Click the power plan settings you want to use.

• Click "Change plan settings"

• Click "Change advanced power settings".

• Click the plus symbol (+) next to "USB Settings" and " USB selective suspend setting"

• Setting to expand the options and change the setting to "Disabled”. Click OK to accept the changes.

Hint: You may need to disconnect and reconnect your DockingStation after applying these settings to restore the connection.
